RICHARD C. "HANDLE BAR RICK" SWANEY age 67

Of Wapakoneta, died on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:05 A.M. at the St. Rita's Medical Center of Lima. He was born on September 20, 1949 in Lima, the son of the late Orlo and Phyllis (Evans) Swaney. He is survived by a special friend Angela Dombek, his children Benjamin (Amy) Swaney of Jackson Center, Melissa (Mike) Lane of Botkins, and Jonathon Foote of Jackson Center, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a sister Susan (Chris) Paton of Lima. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin daughters Angie and Tangie.

Handle Bar Rick was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W., and was a mentor to many others over the course of his adult life. He was a brick layer for over 40 years, and retired from Ferguson Construction of Sidney.

Memorial Services will be held at the Harvest Baptist Church, 1301 Navajo Trail, Wapakoneta, on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 7:00 P.M, with Pastor Tony Dirr officiating. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen, and condolences to the Swaney family can be left online at gilberghartwigfh.com.
