SANDRA S. VONDENHUEVEL, 72

of New Bremen, died on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 7:09 A.M. at the Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital, of St. Marys, as a result of an automobile accident. She was born on January 30, 1945 in Greenville, the daughter of the late Ronald "Red" and Hannah "Izzy" (Richardson) Tinkham. On January 19, 1963 she married George Vondenhuevel, Jr., and he survives in New Bremen. Also surviving are her children Tim (Robin) Vondenhuevel of Wapakoneta, John (Liza) Vondenhuevel, Barb (Scott) Taylor, and Donna (John) Ankerman all of St. Marys, fourteen grandchildren: Sierra (Charles) Inbody, Kaleb (Sam) Vondenhuevel, John (Teresa) Vondenhuevel, Jr, Jason (Megan) Vondenhuevel, Codie Deaton, Jessica Deaton, Shianne (Kyle) Deaton, Jessica Brown, Ashley Brown, Samantha (Daniel) Young, Amber (Scott) Shough, Jana Waldrop, Colton Ankerman, Jaret Ankerman, sixteen great-grandchildren, and her siblings Diane Koop of Sidney, Mike Tinkham of Greenville, Patty (Ernie) Bryley of Piqua, and Linda (Larry) Smith of Greenville. Along with her parents, Sandra was proceeded in death by her daughter Deborah Vondenhuevel, great-granddaughter Marissa Shough, and a sister Kay-Ann Fowler.

Sandra was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer of New Bremen. She worked for many years as a Habilitation Specialist at Heritage Center in Minster. After she retired, she spent much of her time volunteering for Agape and the Otterbein St. Marys Life Enrichment Center, and was an exceptional volunteer for the Auglaize/Mercer YMCA in New Bremen. She was also an advisor of the Ambitious Farmers 4-H Club for many years. She enjoyed giving swimming lessons, hiking and walking, coloring, and exercising, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with Rev. Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Minster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and from 9:30 until 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, the Rosary will then be prayed at 10:00 A.M.
