Rosemary Wilhelmina (Landwehr) Gerling, age 93,

of New Bremen, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at Vancrest Nursing Home in Delphos, Ohio. She was born on March 24, 1924 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Erma W. (Kettler) Landwehr. On March 4, 1945 she married Douglas Wayne Burris of Saint Mary's, Ohio. Later, on August 12, 1972, she married Leon Edward Gerling of Sidney, Ohio, who preceded her in death on July 2, 2011. Surviving are her children; Nancy Anderson of Saint Mary's, Jeanne (Gary) Hasenkamp of Delphos, and Ned (Donna) Burris of Saint Mary's, Thomas Gerling of Celina, and Edward Gerling of Winchester, IN. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Nathan (Jenny) Anderson, Erin (Reggie) Childs, Amber (Matt) Evans, Andrea (Clay) Woodall, Kylie Lynn, Ashley Gerling, and Natasha Gerling, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Louis W. (Dolores) Landwehr.

Rosemary was a life-long member of the St. Peter's Church in New Bremen where she was the Sunday-school worship leader, treasurer of the Women's Fellowship, Leader of Girl's Guild, involved in many different groups, and sang in the choir for a number of years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a life-long member of the New Bremen Historic Association. Rosemary helped her mother and brother work in Louie's Sandwich Shop from 1936-1945. She was also a Girl Scout leader in 1956 and a member of the Child Guidance Mother's Group. She was a 1942 graduate of New Bremen High School, worked for Crown Controls for 7 years, and Thomas Shelby & Co. for 20 years.

Rosemary enjoyed playing piano and organ, ballroom dancing, playing cards with friends, quilting, and working in the yard at the A-frame house in the woods. Family was very important to her, and Rosemary enjoyed every moment spent with them.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 A.M. with funeral services starting at 10:30 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen, with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating. Interment will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery of New Bremen. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund or donor's choice.
