Of Troy, formerly of New Bremen, Ohio, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 5:20 PM at the Koester Pavilion of Troy. He was born on March 22, 1921 in Troy, to the late Lloyd and Imogene (Donovan) Gibboney. On January 18, 1946 he married Shirley M. Kaucher who died on September 14, 1999. Surviving are their children Linda (James) Staugler of Florida, and David (Susan) Gibboney of Troy, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Along with his wife, Eugene was preceded in death by his sister Beatrice Taft.

Eugene had attended Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys. He was a graduate of Troy High School. He served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII, and was the recipient of several honors, including the Bronze Star. He worked as a construction supervisor for Ferguson Construction of Sidney for many years. After retirement, he took up carpentry at home and enjoyed traveling and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and attending various events with friends. Eugene was always a happy person, who was quiet natured, and kind hearted.

Private family graveside services will be held at the German Protestant Cemetery, of New Bremen, Ohio. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Sudan Project of the Ginghamsburg Church, 6759 S County Road 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371.
