CLETUS H. MAGOTO, 82

Of New Knoxville, died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:16 A.M. at the Heritage Center in Minster. He was born in Sidney on December 8, 1935 to the late Cletus H. and Clara E. (Guillozet) Magoto. On August 16, 1958 he married Rose Mary Grillot, and she survives near New Knoxville. Also surviving are his children: Vickie (Greg) Schneider of Botkins, Jerry Magoto of New Knoxville, Kathy (Kevin) Duncan of New Bremen, Linda (James) Rohr of Erie, PA, Ron Magoto of Celina, and Mark Magoto of New Knoxville, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and his siblings Norman (Pat) Magoto of Dayton, Mary Lou DeMange of Troy, and Pat (Thomas) Rutschilling of South Charleston, OH. Along with his parents, Cletus was preceded in death by his sister Jeannette Bensman and his brother Marvin Magoto.

Cletus was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. He was a truck driver for the former Beatrice Foods of New Bremen for 43 years. He was a member of the former Lions Club of New Bremen and the Teamsters Union. Cletus loved to hunt and fish in his spare time, and enjoyed the many fishing trips to Rice Lake in Canada over the years. He also liked to complete crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching television when we was not out on the road. He will be remembered as a down to earth, hard-working man with a great sense of humor, who loved his family.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and from 9:30 until 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. The Rosary will then be prayed at 10:00 A.M.
