We met Sherri through the L-vad team at Ross Heart Hospital. Sherri was so kind, so patient, and made you feel like you were her only concern. Our deepest sympathy is extended.

Such a beautiful celebration of life for such a remarkable and special young lady. We enjoyed the times we spent together with Ayesha, Craig and Eric just exploring the Short North and watching people. I will miss your unmistakable laugh and bright smile. May God hold your family and Eric in the palm of his hand and ease their pain. Life changes quickly. But one thing is certain: you changed lives, Sherri.

Shock is an understatement!! My heart is heavy! If I was taking care of a LVAD patient, I was happy when Sherri entered the room. Her smile made me smile! She introduced a calm to an overwhelming situation for the patients who were new to the LVAD life. She was doing what she love and that in itself is a blessing. Heaven could not wait, so she will continue utilizing her skills by teaching/educating all who she encounters. Sherri glide when using those Angel Wings.

Sherri was an amazing person! Her dedication to her profession, no, really it was her calling, the love of her patients and the amazing sense of humor she possessed were all attributes that we saw regularly on display by Sherri. I met her when I first started working in CT Surgery over 11 years ago. What a privilege to have had her as a colleague and friend. My prayers are with all of her family and many, many dear friends.

My heart is heavy but strong. It heavy because of learning of her transition but strong because she was part of the team that prepared me for my transplant. I can only say that her awesomeness was only succeeded by her amazingness! Thank you Sherri. Rest easy.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Sherri's passing. Although I never met her face-to-face, we frequently spoke over the phone to arrange for the needs of her VAD patients. She was always a pleasure to work with, and I considered her a friend.

I hope you will be comforted by the lovely messages of those who admired and will miss Sherri. My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with you during this very difficult time.

We just learned about the sad and unexpected death of Sherri Wissman today. We are very sad to hear of her sudden and unpredictable departure from this world. Sherri was a cheerful and beautiful human being who eased our understanding of the LVAD responsibilities and it was Sherri who comforted us many times during those Days and thereafter, by responding to our calls with kind and comforting advice.

Please know that we are with Sherri's family and friends at the Wexner Medical Center in mourning her departure from this world.

I would watch Sherri walk into the room of one of our sick VAD patients and their eyes would like up. The familiarity, caring, and thoughtfulness she brought to medicine every day was contagious. She will be deeply missed.

Dear Wissman family,

I am so sorry for your loss but hope you can find some comfort in your memories of your amazing daughter. I had the privilege of working with Sherri at OSUWMC for many years and even when we no longer worked together I always loved to pass her in the hall and see her smile as she said hello. She made such a far reaching impact on all her many co workers and even more so on the lives of all her patients who were facing frightening and uncertain times regarding their own life threatening cardiac illnesses. She will be greatly missed and remember always as a lovely lady, an amazing nurse and a tireless patient advocate. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear family, friends and co-workers,
I have worked with Sherri over the past several years and have come to know and respect her as both a VAD coordinator and researcher. She was an avid and passionate clinician and interested in how we could make life better for patients on circulatory support. Sherri was on my Intermacs Quality of Life Committee for several years. We wrote abstracts and published papers together. She was a wonderful colleague and contributed a lot to research on quality of life after VAD implant. She was also on one of my National Institutes of Health grants, SUSTAIN-IT. She was the lead coordinator at Ohio State and worked hard to screen and enroll patients into our study.

Sherri had a passion for the care of VAD patients and always wanted to ensure that their outcomes, especially quality of life, were good as a result. I will miss her smiling face, working with her, and her dedication to her career.

With my deepest heartfelt sympathy and keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers,

My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. Sherri was always a outgoing person in my eyes. We always used to say that we were going to stay out of trouble. Everytime I was in the hospital she would come and visit me no matter what just just to see how I was doing, and to think I just asked about her the other day. Sherri may you rest in paradise my friend until we meet again. Stay sweet like always and that smile...

I'm sorry sorry to her of sherri's passing. My condolences to her family. Sherri was an amazing person. She helped care for me during one of the most difficult times in my life. Whether I was in a worn down grouchy mood or upbeat, she would bend over backwards to make sure I was being taken care of. She was always so easy to talk to and even though I only saw her a few times a year the last couple years, I feel like she was genuinely a friend. We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed teaching her about rehabilitation nursing. She went on to develop her own career and was a respected mentor for our staff nurses caring for VAD patients. She was kind and caring and patient with our staff. I appreciated her wit, humor and sarcasm. She was a special person and will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss. I have such great memories from Lane St. Sherri was special and as I recall very smart and structured from a young age. In fact I recall her helping me when I was supposed to be babysitting. I was having a bit of trouble with the dog ( I believe named Trevor). It seemed like Trevor didn't care too much for me and was letting me know that I wasn't necessarily welcome as far as he was concerned. Not being particularly brave I was confined to the couch at the dogs request. Sherri was probably around eight years old and immediately assessed the situation and.calmy secured the dog in another location. She then informed me that I probably should be putting her sister and her to bed. She was right and I complied. All appeared well when you arrived home and I was thankful that Sherri had helped me so much. I pray that God grants you comfort and peace during this difficult time. My family will be praying for you.
